Game Design

This week we were tasked with going through some readings based on generating ideas for games...

After looking through The organic nature of game ideation by Kultima Annakaisa, it gave a better insight at just how tough game ideas and brainstorming is for game developers. Knowing they need a professional consultant to help make a brainstorming session beneficial is quite eye-opening, as I never really considered just how repetitive ideas can be and how often they pop up especially when it comes to game making. Also that too many people is more than a hinderance when it comes to creative brainstorming, as too many people may lead to no ideas being agreed upon , meaning no work gets done.

Getting to read on what classifies as a game in What is a game Anyways?, was a fun read and learning of the specific criteria required to really be considered a game was interesting. Finding out that D&D doesn't classify as a game was kind of crazy but after reading the rules it makes sense as to why it doesn't fit in the category.

Overall this was actually a fun task and I enjoyed reading these articles, and would love to read up on more like them.
